Hospiscare is a charity providing end-of-life care in Exeter and the surrounding areas. The Summer Walk, held at Darts Farm in July 2023, was a new event for Hospiscare that required a vibrant, high-quality brand identity that matched both the excellence of the location and the fun, community-driven nature of the event.
As this was a new event, it needed to be memorable and distinctive, capturing the joyful spirit of a British summer while enhancing visibility and recognition. The resulting brand not only reflected the premium experience offered by Darts Farm but also strengthened the connection to Hospiscare’s charitable mission.
Project Objectives
Create a Fun and Inviting Atmosphere: The brand needed to be bright and lively to attract participants of all ages.
Enhance Visibility and Recognition: As a new event, the branding had to be consistent and memorable, ensuring that the event stood out and was easily recognisable.
Incorporate Summery Elements: The design needed to evoke the essence of summer with playful, seasonal motifs and a warm, welcoming colour palette.
Strengthen the Connection to the Charity: It was important that the branding not only reflected the event’s joyful nature but also highlighted Hospiscare’s mission.
Design Direction
The colour palette was inspired by Hospiscare’s main brand colours but adapted to lighter, pastel shades to create a summery feel while still connecting back to the charity’s brand. I chose bright, warm colours dominated by shades of orange, pink, and yellow to evoke the feeling of summer. Playful illustrations of strawberries, ice cream, and summer beverages brought a sense of fun and nostalgia.
The design was applied consistently across all marketing materials—from social media graphics to posters and banners—creating a unified identity that was both recognisable and memorable, ensuring the event stood out in its first year.
The Result
The final brand identity brought the client’s vision to life, seamlessly blending vibrant, summery elements with a sense of premium quality.
The design used bright, warm colours and playful illustrations that evoked the joy of a British summer, while the consistency across all promotional materials ensured a strong, unified brand presence.
This memorable branding helped contribute to the success of the event, which raised over £43,000 for Hospiscare in 2023.
